No matter where they are, the Teradek Wave gives users an accurate depiction of end-of-line audio and video performance, and provides reliable bandwidth in challenging environments thanks to its network bonding functionality.
With church production crews getting increasingly creative in shooting video, the need for technology that supports live on-location production is critical. The ability to capture and stream outdoor services, youth events, weddings, or even a pastor’s sermon delivered from outside of the worship center expands a church’s creative tool set––and makes for more engaging online viewing.
Besides being a portable audio and video monitor, the Wave will simultaneously stream to multiple social media services, such as Facebook, Vimeo, and YouTube.
Joe Cross, a church tech artist from Northwest Florida, notes that these applications are fully supported by the Teradek Wave 5-in-1 Smart Streaming Monitor/Encoder. Featuring smart event creation, streaming to multiple destinations, and recording, all controlled via a 7-inch daylight-viewable touchscreen/monitor, this compact system allows church production teams to stream from any location they choose. No matter where they are, the Wave gives users an accurate depiction of end-of-line audio and video performance, and provides reliable bandwidth in challenging environments thanks to its network bonding functionality. Its FlowOS configuration tool lets techs pre-program events in advance, and––with Teradek’s Sharelink cloud platform enabled––the Wave will simultaneously stream to multiple social media services, such as Facebook, Vimeo, and YouTube.
“Teradek has put together something that you can pack into a road case and just go––and then stream from anywhere,” says Joe Cross. “To me, that is the biggest win."
“Teradek has put together something that you can pack into a road case and just go––and then stream from anywhere,” Cross says. “To me, that is the biggest win. Before, I had to bring a switching rack, I had to bring a console––not to mention cameras and all of the other equipment needed for on-location production. With the Teradek Wave, all I need is a camera. I really love it.”

Cross observes that portable churches––that often struggle to obtain reliable bandwidth––could also benefit from the Teradek Wave. “Being able to connect this to a hotspot, a cell phone or wifi and stream to multiple platforms is great for portable churches,” he says. “And it’s a good solution for any church that wants to do a live stream outside of their building.”
It is also a good tool for community outreach. Cross relays that when Hurricane Michael struck in 2018, he and members of his church mobilized to help victims with clean-up and repairs. Had he had access to the Teradek Wave then, he would have been able to stream these activities to round up further support.
“It’s a great piece of gear to have in your arsenal, one that you can use to go out and make an impact on the community,” Cross says. “And because it’s so compact, you can do it at a moment’s notice.”
