Scotty Maxwell, is a content producer and sound engineer at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. Over the winter they took their college ministry event to a retreat venue at a resort in Big Bear, California, and agreed to a CPM Road Test of the Renkus-Heinz IC Live X loudspeaker system. Along with teaching, this college ministry retreat featured a 10- to 12-piece worship band which was the real test of the loudspeakers.
The Renkus-Heinz IC Live X Loudspeaker System has received the Church Production Road Test Certification.
“One interesting thing that we did for the setup was that the room was actually in the round, Maxwell says. "So, we had the vocalists for the band in the middle of the room on the stage in front of the PA, and then the rest of the band was in the back on the actual stage. It was cool and the PA handled it really well.”
Maxwell says one of the things they really wanted for this event was for a full surround sound but with a lot of clarity in the vocals. He says the IC Live X System did just that. “They do fill the room really well, but there's also just a lot of clarity in the top end and it allowed the vocals to shine and punch through. There was so much just intelligibility and clarity that was able to come out of the vocal mix with really not trying too hard, which was awesome.”
“Mixing worship is an art form, especially when you're off-campus in a different room than you're used to - a smaller room that hasn't been sound treated like your church. And so, we were really curious not only what situation they would be in, but how these speakers would suit them on this retreat, says Church Production's, Marcel Patillo.
In this video, Marcel Patillo talks with Maxwell about his team’s experience at Big Bear and explains the features of the IC Live X loudspeaker system from Renkus-Heinz. Learn more about the system here.
