PTZOptics is producing a new podcast just for churches called Sound and Light Tech Talk (SALT). Since the pandemic prompted many houses of worship to expand their use of video production and live streaming, PTZOptics is now offering monthly discussions of best tools and practices for churches to learn more.
“So many houses of worship today want to have an online presence, but they lack the technical expertise, funding and personnel to make it happen,” says SALT Talk Moderator Julia Sherwin. “We decided to do the show to help empower houses of worship to accomplish what can be a daunting task. Over the years, we've learned some of the best ways to handle video production and live streaming workflows, uncovering tips and tricks along the way. As technologists and faithful stewards to our communities, we want to share this knowledge.”
There are two hosts of SALT Talk. One is PTZOptics Broadcast Engineer Stephen Heywood who has been in the broadcasting and live streaming industry for 15 years. He has specialized expertise in Telestream’s Wirecast, Newtek Tricaster, Streamlabs OBS, vMix and other software and hardware switchers. In ministry most of his life, Stephen is also on staff as an assistant pastor, media director, and children's pastor at Shiloh Ministries in Mercer, Pennsylvania. In his personal time, he has a personal brand, “The Tech Buzz,” that shifted over the years from tech, to broadcasting and is now focused on retro and arcade gaming.
The other host is Jeremy Kloosterman, senior sales engineer at Resi Media, LLC, who serves in the ministry of helps at Anchor Church in Washington, DC. He’s been an associate pastor at a large church in Michigan, leading a ministry for young adults. Jeremy has also worked as a broadcast engineer.
Moderator Julia Sherwin is a former radio host and journalist with 20 years of professional communications and writing experience. During her time at WCHE radio and the Daily Local News in West Chester, Pennsylvania she interviewed hundreds of guests and covered stories that had significant impact to the Chester County community and beyond.
The monthly SALT Talk video podcasts launched in May with an introductory episode and June’s summer worship and vacation Bible school episode followed. Both can be seen at Bit.ly/salttalk. New episodes will be live there the last Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. ET. Click here for more information
