In this Church Production Road Test, we take a look at the Mevo Start Three Pack, an all-in-one streaming system from Logitech. It comes with three individual cameras that are designed to work together and connect via an app to run on an iPad or tablet. The system retails for $999.99.
We sent the system to Bill Wyraman, the video production director at the Summit Church in Kernersville, North Carolina. Church Production’s Marcel Patillo interviews Wyraman who starts by explaining they used the cameras for several weeks during Thursday night services.
During the unboxing Wyraman says his first impressions were very positive. “It's just very simply laid out,” he says. “It's very, very intuitive. From the get-go, there's your three cameras and your three USB-C cables, and that's pretty much it. There's a little bit of paperwork, but it was just very nicely laid out, very easy to jump right into and get started.”
The Mevo Go App is free and you can even use a phone as a camera or an extra audio input. Wyraman says it was super easy to use. “As soon as we fired up the app on the phone, the multicam app on the iPad that we were using to help stream and direct and switch - as long as you're on the same network - and immediately it recognized the phone as running the app and connected, no problem.”
Wyraman says the camera has the ability to zoom, which gives users the ability to have multiple camera shots from one camera. “So, you could have a wide shot and a tight shot just from one camera. So, you can imagine if you've got three of them, then you can mix and match and do different things.”
And he says the build quality is what you would expect from Logitech. “The build quality is really good. They're heavy, they're weighty,” he concludes. “I have a Logitech mouse that I absolutely love. I have a Logitech web camera that I absolutely love. They just build great gear just down even to the connectors for the tripod or microphone stand. They’re really designed well and made well.”
