“When I go looking for a name brand, Electro-Voice is going to be at the top of the list. We've used quite a few of their Dynacord amplifiers, quite a few of their larger install Electro-Voice loudspeakers and the quality just continues to stand,” says First Baptist Church Media Director Kevin Stevenson, who has always been impressed with EV equipment. So, when his Minden, Louisiana production team was asked to try out the new Electro-Voice Everse 12 for a Church Production Road Test User Experience, they grabbed it --- literally.
“So, our first impression was how light it was and how easy it is to set up.” - Kevin Stevenson, Media Director, First Baptist Minden
“So, our first impression was how light it was and how easy it is to set up,” Stevenson explains. “The first person that set it up was a teenager. Just wanted to see how quickly they could figure out what to plug in. They were able to lift it, set it on the pole plug in really quickly, go into the menu, navigate to the right input, set the volume.”
The Everse 12 is two-way portable loudspeaker - an upgrade in size and power from the Everse 8. The new larger Everse offers a 5 dB increase in SPL over Everse 8, along with deeper bass output. It’s also weatherized and battery-powered with Bluetooth audio control
“The cool thing about it being battery-powered is you don't have to worry about running those extension cords to it. For us, since we've had it, we've only used it plugged in once. Every other time it's been on battery,” Stevenson says.
The components are "Powered by Dynacord," utilizing a high-efficiency 400 W Class-D amplifier and DSP module developed in collaboration with EV’s sibling brand. And Stevenson is impressed with the EV’s specialized mobile app access. “Electro-Voice has a QuickSmart Mobile app for your phone where you can control the loudspeaker volume input, the DSP, all the features you would want and need. You can control more than just one. You can control multiple speakers with that one app.”
