Some of the best production difference makers are out of sight – out of mind. Without being shown or told, you would maybe never know they’re there except they make the whole stage look better.
The Elation KL Cyc L one meter RGBMA LED Cyc Light and Footlight Fixture has received the Church Production Road Tested Certification.

Billy Wand is the lighting director at Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas. As part of the Church Production Road Test User Experience, Elation Lighting sent his team several of the new KL Cyc L Low Profile LED light fixtures to try out. These lights hug the ground and for Watermark Community Church, served the purpose of adding dimension in a lighting design highlighting a wood slat wall behind and below the church’s LED wall. But Wand sees other uses for them as well.
“I think this could be a great foot light solution,” he says. “It is so low profile and you don't even really see it. It just disappears on the stage. It has good color rendering. It gives you so many different creative options, not just throwing a white light from underneath, but you can do color make looks a little more cinematic or whatever. I mean, there's so many things you can do with it."
The fixture features an RGBMA Color Array with a CRI of 92. It's also fully DMX controllable, as well as has a 6,300 total lumen output. In getting the look he wanted, Wand talks about the feature he likes best.
“Some of the features that I found the most helpful, probably the one that was most helpful was the built-in barn door. In the past, I've used other cyc lights that didn't have something like that, and you were just kind of stuck with where the light was going. But with this one, it's super easy to use. It's right there. It's nice and rigid, nice and stiff. You're able to get that nice coverage that you're looking for while also kind of containing the light from spilling into areas you don't want it to go to.”
