Deciding on a new loudspeaker system for your church can be overwhelming. There are so many choices and if you don’t have a big church or if you have an odd-shaped sanctuary, it can feel like nothing quite fits. Faith Community Church in Tucson, AZ seats about 500 people. Ministry Director Jacob Pierce explains their challenge. “The room here in our main sanctuary is really wide. It's not very deep. Trying to find a system that really does fit a room that's very shallow, but also wide, that was one of the challenges that we had,” he says
"... to be able to really steer the sound exactly where you want it to go, to cover the room uniformly, it's shocking.” - Jacob Piece, Ministry Director, Faith Community Church, Tucson, AZ
The team at Faith Community worked with integrator Michael Garrison Associates to find a good fit. They were days away from installing EAW’s Adaptive Anna LCR system when Michael Garrison suggested a demo of an immersive system instead.
“We immediately agreed to the demo,” Pierce says. “We thought, this is super cool. Let's do it, with no intention of buying the immersive system. That wasn't even necessarily on our radar. It was a cool thought, but we thought, there's no way this is going to be what we want. It's going to be too hard to manage. There's too much technology. We're very happy with just the left center, right.”
The demo was EAW’s AC6 Loudspeaker System with Adaptive Technology. When paired with an appropriate DSP processor, such as Flux, it can create an immersive audio experience for churches. What that Adaptive technology does is allow for vertical coverage to be customized for what's best in the room. It enables the sound to be aimed only where it needs to be. The combination of EAW'S Resolution software and the Flux Spat Revolution mixing tool helped bring Faith Community's immersive environment to life.
“It was very clear to us early on that there was something different about the immersive system. The Adaptive part of this is unlike anything else,” Pierce enthuses. “The ability to put a speaker in one location and then only have to have one box, especially with the AC6, to be able to really steer the sound exactly where you want it to go, to cover the room uniformly, it's shocking.”
