With three high schools and the New York Institute of Technology just steps away, American Bible Society recognized an opportunity to engage a new generation of followers.
“We really wanted to create a cool, hip urban space that was all about the Bible yet geared toward the City's youth, so we knew we had to make it technology driven,” comments Matt Steinruck, Director of Arts & Media Bible Advocacy for American Bible Society. Working closely with the Atlanta production and event management company Velocity Productions, Barco outfitted the newly redesigned atrium and gathering spots with its near-seamless LCD video walls to present spiritual imagery and videos, live media streaming, and signage for upcoming events and services.
Ministry for a modern era
With three high schools and the New York Institute of Technology just steps away, American Bible Society recognized an opportunity to engage a new generation of followers with HD quality infotainment in an urban lounge setting. “When we began the design process, our goal was to create a warm, welcoming space that presented the Bible in a subtle way. Of course, it had to be technology driven to meet the media-savvy needs of young as well as mature audiences,” says Matt Steinruck, Director of Arts & Media Bible Advocacy for American Bible Society. “The Barco displays helped us create a community experience, inviting people inside to relax, connect and engage with unique, creative content in an bright and dynamic immersive environment.”

So far, the new venue has hosted the gala premiere of The History Channel’s mini-series, “The Bible,” interactive content from “The American Bible Challenge” game show on GSN, a series of Q Ideas Conferences, and a variety of live stream broadcasts from the space.
Strength in numbers
Velocity Productions and Barco provided 22 OverView NSL-4621 LCD tiles configured into numerous video walls featuring several different palettes of content. The primary focal point of the Atrium’s new interior is a stunning four by two tiled video wall comprised of eight 46-inch Barco LCDs. Along 61st Street, six pairs of monitors show the same content outside as inside to attract passersby.
High impact and reliability
“Because of American Bible Society’s prominent location right next to Lincoln
Center and Times Square, they knew they had to equal the quality and brilliance of these venues. The Barco NSL 46” display provides not only high brightness, rich imagery and crystal clear media streaming, but also the reliability required for a 24/7 environment,” comments Brian Pirkle, President of Velocity Productions.
Velocity Productions also remotely monitors and manages the displays via a VPN remote desktop from its Atlanta office, using any mobile device.
