ADJ's WiFLY Series
ADJ's innovative and flexible range of WiFLY products have taken off during recent months, with the company bringing together wireless DMX and lithium battery power to provide truly portable LED lighting to lighting users of all kinds—including, of course, houses of worship, where wireless fixtures are transforming the way services are run and enhancing the overall experience for the congregation. WiFLY products essentially send DMX signals, wirelessly, and some are even battery powered, so many of the range are totally wireless, allowing intense LED color to transform any location or venue without the constraints of running cables.
Recently, ADJ has broadened its horizons yet again by adding a number of forward-thinking units to its ever-expanding WiFLY range. Just what is the purpose of WiFLY? And why does it matter? ADJ's WiFLY aims to give users flexibility (fixtures they can move and rearrange), ease of use (less hassle, easier to set up, and easier to operate), and value for the money (buy one wireless fixture and use it in multiple locations, rather than buying twice).
This trio of core principles is what makes the ADJ WiFLY range ideal for use in houses of worship and of all shapes and sizes.
Freedom
The first advantage of WiFLY is the flexibility that using wireless fixtures allows; rather than installing a fixture exclusively in the main sanctuary, battery-powered fixtures can be moved and used in other spaces, such as meeting rooms and youth centers, without the need for running wires, and for outreach events and other conventions due to their portability and easy set up. And, with the growing number of mobile churches, ADJ's WiFLY fixtures drastically cut back on set up and teardown time because no power or DMX cables are needed.
WiFLY doesn't just allow flexibility in where you use or take the fixtures, though; it gives lighting technicians creative freedom when it comes to designing a lightshow for services or for enhancing a stage production, allowing them to experiment—easily trying and testing different setups until they find the solution that's right for the worship space or the theme of service. The real bonus is that they won't have to think twice about rearranging the fixtures; they know it won't take long to set up and they know that they won't have to deal with the hassle of rerunning large amounts of cables.
Furthermore, with battery-power and wireless DMX, houses of worship can place lights where they can't put power, giving their lighting technicians even more freedom to experiment with previously unimaginable positions, such as installing lighting high up or using it to uplight awkwardly shaped features and décor.

Battery power
One such battery powered fixture is ADJ's WiFLY Par QA5, which has wireless DMX built-in and a six hour battery life, cutting the need for any cables at all and ensuring that the unit will stay bright and powerful throughout even the longest periods of use. This type of fixture is ideal for creating smooth mixes of rich RGBA color with which to wash sanctuary walls or stages and, due to total wirelessness, they can be placed anywhere. The WiFLY Par QA5 WH also has a metal casing with a white powder coat finish for integration into lighting rigs that already follow a clean white color scheme for a more professional overall look.
In a similar fashion, the ADJ WiFLY Bar QA5 features a rechargeable lithium battery with a six-hour battery life, as well as wireless DMX built in, but instead comes in the form of an ultra-bright LED linear fixture. Using five linearly aligned 5-watt quad-color (RGBA) LEDs, the WiFLY Bar offers rich hues and smooth color mixing while providing a powerful wash effect that is ideal for stage flooding or washing walls, offering a seemingly endless palette of vibrant colors. For more advanced users, DMX mode gives a choice of six DMX channel modes (4, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 22), operated via wireless built-in DMX, while users wishing to avoid these complexities can utilize Auto, Sound Active, Manual Control, Static Color, and Slave modes. Both the WiFLY Par QA5 and the Bar QA5 can be operated by ADJ's wireless remote control, the ADJ RFC, meaning that setup and control truly are both totally wireless.
Less wires, more space
Not only does having no wires mean that users can quickly rearrange fixtures to achieve a different stage look, but it also means less cables running across the stage or floor. Without the need to run wires that could easily be a trip hazard for children or performers, users can employ their lighting to create incredible atmosphere throughout a worship space while keeping the stage and floor both safe and tidy. Less cables also makes for a less cluttered stage, which can be an issue when large stage productions take place involving a number of congregation members or performers—leaving more room for instruments, speaker systems, amplifiers, and any wires that come with them.
Total control
For users who don't have the advantages of ADJ's wireless DMX controllers (such as the WiFLY WLC16), the WiFly range of lighting solutions can still be controlled by attaching the ADJ WiFLY Transceiver Transmitter (wireless transmitter and receiver in one) to the output of a non-WiFLY controller. This means that churches using non-wireless DMX controllers can invest in one WiFLY Transceiver and be able to control multiple WiFLY fixtures, as well as their wired fixtures, without needing to spend big bucks on a new controller.
“ADJ is always looking to push the boundaries, and with our WiFLY series we've managed to revolutionize powerful LED lighting fixtures and reliable DMX-controllers with all the benefits of wireless technology and battery-power,” explains Alfred Gonzales, national sales manager for ADJ USA. “The WiFLY series eradicates the need for excessive cables, without forsaking the performance of the products, offering users portability, freedom and practicality at a great price point.”
