Miami Vineyard Community Church received a budget-conscious lighting upgrade with ADJ fixtures.
Miami Vineyard Community Church has been serving the community of Miami for more than 20 years with a mission of, “Seeing people experience the love of God and the life-changing power of Jesus Christ … all races, nationalities and walks of life come together at the Vineyard to worship God, learn about His love, and share it with our community.”
The staff at Miami Vineyard approached Louie Uribe, owner of LED Creators Inc., a lighting design and install firm in South Florida, to help give more excitement and a contemporary feel to the church's youth room and chapel; an auxiliary room to its 100,000-square-foot multi-room campus. The youth room and chapel are used for weddings and also serve as the meeting place for the church's growing youth membership.
“Miami Vineyard contacted me to help give them more excitement and versatility to their youth room and chapel,” says Uribe. “They wanted to be able to wash the entire room with a vast color palette, and provide a spotlight solution for the room's wide variety for events.”
Budget- and Maintenance-minded Fixtures
Uribe contacted Dustin Pesnell of Freed Sales, ADJ’s sales firm in Miami, to discuss some lighting solutions that would fit Vineyard’s needs and budget. Not only did the lighting need to fit the church’s budget, but they also needed to keep the maintenance and electric costs at a minimum.
Pesnell suggested that Uribe go with all-LED fixtures like the new ADJ Inno Spot Pro, an 80-Watt LED moving head spot fixture with eight colors plus white, and six gobo patterns that may be easily replaced to theatrical break-out patterns or custom wording to provide a message for the variety of events that take place in the [space]. The moving heads have the ability to move the spot light around the room, projecting onto tables, walls, ceilings, or the floor—all controlled by the lighting control language called Digital Multiplex or just DMX.
The Mega QA Par38's are all linked together so that the colors for all the Pars [can] be changed at the same time, or they can each be controlled individually—all done by DMX lighting control.
For the wash lighting, Pesnell suggested ADJ’s Mega QA Par38 LED Par Cans. Each Par produces a wide variety of colors with very smooth color mixing from the fixtures red, green, blue, and amber-colored LEDs. Each fixture has three 5-Watt Quad LEDs that provide the brightness needed for the room. The Pars are very small in size and light in weight and may be mounted on truss, on a ceiling, or used as uplighting around the room. The Mega QA Par38s are all linked together so that the colors for all the Pars [can] be changed at the same time, or they can each be controlled individually—all done by DMX lighting control.
Uribe went with six ADJ Inno Spot Pros and 16 Mega QA Par 38 Pars for the youth room and chapel. Three of the moving heads are mounted at the stage, and the other three are mounted singly on pipe in the middle of the room. This allows spot and gobo coverage throughout the room. Four of the Mega QA Par38 cans are mounted with the moving heads on the stage, and six of the Pars are mounted at the rear of the room. The remaining six LED Pars are mobile and can be used for uplighting.
“The staff at Vineyard [is] very pleased with how ADJ’s moving heads and LED Pars helped make the room come alive,” says Uribe. “Not only did we provide a versatile lighting solution, but we also came [in] way under budget. The extra funds will be used on a future project in the main sanctuary.”
