Moving head beam effects have become a widely used ‘go-to look' for lighting designers on large concert tours and big-budget TV shows over recent years. However, these effects are now within the grasp of smaller and mid-size churches.
Continuing to bolster the reputation of their intelligent Inno Series, ADJ's compact Inno Beam LED promises a professional, razor-sharp beam effect at an inexpensive price.
A bright 80W LED source projects eight vibrant colors plus white at a tight beam angle of six degrees. With this combination ADJ promises powerful, tight color beams to create lighting excitement in any size sanctuary.
Thanks to separate GOBO and color wheels, there are endless combinations of GOBO patterns and colors, and the fixture's eight-facet prism creates fascinating effects. The laser cut GOBO wheel features four GOBOs as well as four beam reducers to provide further control over the shape and size of the beam. ADJ's release states, “This choice of beam size makes for exciting effects as well as simple pin-spotting; meanwhile an optional frost filter can also be applied to give a softer edge to the beam. Furthermore, GOBO shake mode allows for even added lightshow-enhancing effects and 0-100% dimming allows for total control over brightness.” The Inno Beam LED also offers five different dimming curves, selectable via DMX, and a high speed shutter that allows for slow to fast strobing and pulsing.
The fixture is controlled via three operational modes: DMX-controlled, Sound Active (with 4 built-in shows) or Internal Show mode. Using DMX mode, users have complete control over the unit's movements, effects and an array of colors ranging through red, orange, yellow, green, two shades of blue, magenta and pink, as well as a split color option, and a fast-slow and slow-fast rainbow effect. There are two DMX channel modes (12 or 14 channels) with the 14-channel mode allowing precise control over 16-bit fine pan and tilt at 540- and 210-degrees, respectively.
For a simple, but hugely effective synchronized lightshow, multiple Inno Beam LED units can be linked together for Master/Slave operation, in either Sound Active or Show Mode, using standard XLR-XLR cables. To add variety, a pan/tilt inversion mode can then be used to make selected heads produce contrasting movements and effects to generate an even more professional looking lightshow. For an element of control, without the hassle of DMX programming, the optional add-on of an ADJ UC3 easy-to-use controller provides command over operational mode, built in shows, strobing, color and GOBO selection, as well as blackout.
The Inno Beam LED is lightweight, compact and extremely portable, making for easy set-up and transportation. With a low power draw of 129W at maximum output, the Inno Beam LED is also energy-efficient and runs cool. Daisy-chaining is easy with IEC AC in/out connections on the rear allowing up to three Inno Beam LEDs to be linked at 120V and six fixtures at 230V.
The Inno Beam LED is available now from ADJ. See it at ADJ's booth #737 at WFX 2014.
