Ross Video has unveiled its new Carbonite Black Solo production switcher at the 2016 NAB show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Building on the company's popular Cabonite series of switchers, the Black Solo gives users a feature-rich platform of I/O, keying, and configurations in a compact and affordable package, perfect for small productions, houses of worship, and other professional applications.
Designed to meet the needs of professional yet compact productions, the Solo features six SD/HD-SDI connections and three HDMI inputs. For outputs there are 5 SDI and one HDMI, all completely assignable. The switcher also features six floating frame synchronizers with format converters that can be assigned to any input.
The Black Solo features four, full featured keyers, a transition keyer for DVE and Media wipes, and 2 UltraChrome chroma keyers. In addition, there are two MiniME's that are perfect for use in small event production and for secondary produced outputs. Each MiniME has two keyers of its own, providing Solo with eight key layers in total.
Also included is the company's XPression Live CG software which allows users to create and push static graphics such as lower thirds and over the shoulder boxes and slates directly into the switcher's internal media storage bank.
There are three versions of Solo available: an all-In-one system with combined control panel and electronic processing, offering maximum portability, a rack mount electronic frame with soft control panel, and a control panel plus separate electronic frame for installations, allowing the user to separate operation from electronics.
