For an estimated 466 million people worldwide with hearing loss, traditional sound systems are not enough. Not being able to hear at worship services, and other public gatherings can be frustrating, isolating, and leave people feeling disconnected. Listen Technologies designed its next-generation audio over Wi-Fi based assistive listening system, ListenWIFI, so accessing clear audio is seamless and automatic for people with hearing loss and anyone who wants to hear better in challenging listening environments.
In venues offering ListenWIFI, users download the free ListenWIFI app on their smartphone, select an audio channel (e.g., chapel, Spanish interpretation, etc.), and stream live or recorded audio to their smartphone. They hear clear audio through headphones or earbuds connected to the smartphone. If they have Bluetooth® enabled hearing aids or cochlear implants, audio streams from their smartphone directly to those devices. ListenWIFI receivers are available if users prefer not to use a smartphone.
Churches can set ListenWIFI beacons to trigger users' smartphones running the ListenWIFI app to stream audio automatically when they are within range of the beacon to connect to the assigned channel for that area or room. For example, when a person enters a room with an installed beacon, her smartphone, or borrowed receiver, will automatically stream audio for that room and stop streaming when she leaves the space. She doesn’t need to search for the audio channel.
ListenWIFI works on a venue’s existing wireless network. The versatile system supports assistive listening, language interpretation, streaming audio from screens, and audio description.
ListenWIFI offers low latency (no lip synch issues) and meets global accessibility requirements for assistive listening when paired with neck loops and signage. ListenWIFI is convenient, intuitive, and inconspicuous, and delivers high-quality audio to listeners’ ears.
