I arrived in Baltimore, MD tonight for five days of sound systems and music-making. I'll be mixing front-of-house for the Next 2010 conference, put on by Sovereign Grace Ministries. I will hopefully also be blogging about the audio for the conference.
What's the conference going to be like?
- Great preaching based on the truth of God's word.- Passionate singing of truth to God.- Small group times to talk about how to live that truth for real.
Who are the bands?
- Na Band - Zelos - Generation Letter - A combination of the three leaders of those bands doing an acoustic set. - All the groups are being co-led by Bob Kauflin.
What is the system?
- PM5Ds at both front-of-house and monitor world.- JBL Line Arrays- Plenty of decent mics to make it sound great, assuming I do my job.
What am I excited about?
- Hearing thousands of young people sing loudly to the Lord.- Working with Generation Letter, who I've never even heard live before.- Mixing a 12-piece string section with Zelos and a 40-person choir with Na Band.- Learning from some top-notch on-the-road sound guys that will be supporting the conference.
