Say it ain't so! At least let the kids go back to school before it gets to "that time of year" --- time to start planning your Christmas production. In reality, it's never too early. Many of you were making notes about this coming year during last year's production. Others, for a variety of reasons, won't start production planning until the weeks before your event. Regardless of the reasons: lack of vision or clarity on the part of your team members (worship leaders, senior leaders etc), uncertain budgets, your own hectic schedule etc --- it's not too early to do some basic planning for your 2011 Christmas production. Start by listing some of the things you'd like to improve upon from last year. What did you learn? Who will be some of your key team members? What's are the probable dates? Work backwards from this date and schedule tech rehearsals, tech planning meetings, time to plan and order rental equipmnet --- and factor in a considerable fudge factor for rescheduled meetings, weather delays, life etc --- in order to make this year's Christmas production the most God-honoring event your church has produced to date.
In the Reader Comments space below, tell us more about what you have planned for this year's Christmas production at your church. What are you doing new and different? What have you learned from the past that you're going to build upon for this year's event? How are you using this technical planning time, and the technical execution as a ministry in it's own right?
