Author Drew Hester announces the release of his new book, “Purpose Drive Production.” For 20 years Hester has been a part of the church production community specializing in production management, FOH audio, and monitor audio mixing for Christian artists and worship teams. He also does production leadership and team coaching. In his new book, Hester asks church production leaders to consider the calling to be a technical leader as also a calling to pastor the technical volunteers who serve on their team.
“You have been called to the ministry of church production. You have been commanded through scripture to love God and love people,” Hester explains. “You have been sent out on a commission to make the name of Jesus known. It is time to shift our focus from the technical connections to ensuring our volunteers are connecting with Jesus.”
Dylan Hoffman at Christ Fellowship Church in West Palm Beach, Florida says, “'Purpose Driven Production' serves as a guide for anyone currently navigating the intersection of technology and ministry. With a history of working in the church, Drew brings insightful wisdom and practical strategies to empower leaders to harness the power of having a pastor's heart to enhance worship experiences and foster community engagement. Whether you're a seasoned technical leader or a volunteer doing this role on the side, this book is a game-changer. It will empower you to lead with grace, wisdom, and a deep commitment to your team's spiritual and technical well-being."
Ryan Robb is the live audio coordinator at Biltmore Church in Asheville, North Carolina. “Using real-life, relatable stories and examples, Drew bridges the gap between church production conundrums and Gospel-centered, purposeful production leadership,” Robb says. “'Purpose Driven Production' pulls back the slingshot of spiritual leadership to then fly forward into God-honoring, technical excellence.”
Hester’s website concludes, “God has inspired me to serve local churches in the production and worship arts. Too often, worship pastors and church production leaders stress out over finding volunteers to support Sunday services, or they pull their hair out trying to map out their Dante network switch. Many of our local church staff and volunteers are hurting, missing out on relationships, and missing out on Jesus. It’s time to find purpose driven production.”
