Wayne Schulman, vice president of Nanlite weighs in on the company's plans for the church market and the 2023 Capture Summit.
Nanlite makes a really interesting range of lighting fixtures, mounts, and accessories. Tell us more about your approach to serving the proAV and broadcast markets. We look at all vertical markets as an opportunity to help customers increase their lighting potential. Lighting can sometimes be viewed as a difficult or cumbersome process; we feel the lighting products that Nanlite has help, people to experiment and try new lighting scenarios. We inventory and service our products in the US at our White Plains, NY facility. This allows all our customers easy access to our lights, accessories, and service when needed. We also have a team of customer service representatives and a technical sales manager to answer any and all questions in a timely manner.
How does the church market fit into Nanlite’s overall strategy? The church market has a lot of smaller facets, besides the lighting of the sanctuary. The use of lights for smaller video productions, music, videos, and all social media reels are very important as well. Nanlite lighting can be used to help reinforce the message that is being put out to the congregation and the world.
What are some of the more compelling use cases you’ve heard about Nanlite products being used in churches (or other markets)? We see a lot of different types of customers today using Nanlite fixtures for all types of photo and video work. In the church market, the use of our RGB tubes and Forza lights have become the “go-to” for a lot of the music videos, and performances that so many churches use to reach their parishioners. The high output of our lights, smaller form factor, and light weight are preferred by ENG crews, film, broadcast, and photography students along with higher-end productions across all channels that need a light that can produce a high level of brightness with consistent quality.
What’s next for Nanlite? What can we expect to see from the company in the future? Brighter LED’s with more color and a better ability to mimic natural light. More precise control of how the light works in the environment with constant improvements to our NANLINK App and more features. In general, we will see more features, a wider range of color temperatures, and RGBWW and RGBLAC lighting. All with a more compact form factor and lighter weight.
Nanlite is a major sponsor of the upcoming Capture Summit. What can we expect to see there? We will be showing a lot of the Nanlite line including Pavotubes, Forza, and FS-Series which helps make us such a good choice for any lighting situation. We will also bring along a few of our Nanlux high-end – high output lights.
