Fujinon MK Lenses and Sony FS7II Cameras at Prestonwood Baptist Church
“We were immediately impressed with the flexibility in such a compact cine lens,” says Bryan Williford, a content creator at Prestonwood.
The media team at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Tex. has acquired full complement of Fujinon MK lenses, after being given the opportunity to try them out in during a recent choir mission trip in New York City.
“We were immediately impressed with the flexibility in such a compact cine lens,” says Bryan Williford, a content creator at Prestonwood. “Our camera of choice was the Sony a7S II. And we couldn’t have picked a better lens kit to complement our cameras. We didn’t experience any chromatic aberrations or focus breathing.”
Williford says the team was shooting the NYC video for three purposes and lens flexibility was a top priority for the team. First they wanted to produce a music video with a cinematic look. Willford says consistent F-stop through the length of the lens was a big deal for them. “Behind the scenes footage during the concert was shot for an album release. The concert footage was for a music video and this camera and lenses combo was a highlight.”
The second purpose for the video shoot was to create a promotion for other missions trips. They also wanted some documentary style B-roll.
Andre Harrell, another content creator at Prestonwood says the lenses worked for all of their shots. “One thing we really liked, that we don't have with primes or the kit lenses, was the broadcast-style zoom and focus where we could zoom in and focus remains where we want it. Accuracy was great for run and gun. The video had excellent color, sharpness and was very consistent.”
The team reports the native E-mount on the lenses allowed use seamlessly across their Sony workflow. The T2.9 consistent aperture provided generous amounts of light and created beautiful bokeh.
"The lenses paired with our FS-7 II and the Super 35 sensor produced outstanding results. We look forward to the coming years of creating content with these lenses,” Williford says.
