Live Sound Engineer Chris McMillan
Touting success of the company’s 2018 House of Worship Tour events, DPA Microphones announces the kick off of its 2019 House of Worship Tour on March 5 at the Church at the Cross in Grapevine, Texas. The DPA team will be joined by live sound engineer and longtime DPA user Chris McMillan to share insight and experience on how to get the best sound in any sanctuary or worship environment. Chris McMillan has 20+ years experience in church and touring production/management.
The DPA House of Worship Tour events are designed to open up the possibilities of what churches can do with DPA microphones. According to the release, “It’s an opportunity to connect with others in the area, get hands-on experience with DPA Microphones and ask industry experts about how they do what they do. During the event, attendees will learn the best practices on miking drums, vocals and more, as well as the top techniques to solve any microphone challenge.”
Grapevine, Texas is the first among additional tour stops to take place this year. Future cities on the tour include, Sacramento, Seattle, Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville and Philadelphia.
Very familiar with the HOW market, McMillan recently finished a four-year run handling live production and mixing for his brother, recording artist John Mark McMillan. When not on tour with his brother, McMillan handles the sound duties at his local church.
In addition, the entire line of DPA microphones will be on display, including the new 6000 Series Subminiature d:screet and d:fine Lavalier and Headset Microphones, d:vote 4099 CORE Instrument Microphone, d:facto 4018V Vocal Microphone and d:dicate 2011C Twin Cardioid Microphone. DPA reps say they also have a few surprises planned.
“We look forward to building on the success of the previous two House of Worship Tour events we hosted last year,” says Alan Johnson, sales manager at DPA Microphones. “The tour will show professionals that DPA exists beyond a headset microphone and what it means to have a high-quality microphone for the day-to-day events within the parish. The tour also highlights the complete DPA catalogue and allows attendees to touch, hear and experience DPA’s range of products. By going on tour, we are spreading geographical awareness about our mics and showcasing our immense experience in this market.”
