Each year, the URTA Auditions & Interviews (“The URTAs”) bring together faculty from top training programs and hundreds of prospective MFA candidates in all areas of theatre including acting, directing, stage management, design, technology, and producing/theatre management. Registration is now open for the 2018 URTAs, taking place January 19-22 in New York City, Jan 25-Feb 1 in Chicago, and Feb 3-4 in San Francisco.
Candidates, including church techs and related volunteers interested in pursuing a degree in the technical arts, have the opportunity to audition or interview with recruiters from URTA’s 43 member universities, as well as additional guest institutions, all in one place—a fantastic way to avoid the expense and inefficiency of dozens of separate interviews, traveling to different campuses, and navigating applications for countless institutions.
“Many of the top MFA programs in design recruit through the URTAs. We want to give as many aspiring MFA candidates as possible the chance to interview with all of these nationally ranked institutions,” said Scott Steele, URTA’s executive director.
The URTAs also offer a wealth of Continuing Education programming, ranging from hands-on workshops led by professionally active faculty from our member schools, to panels and seminars boasting distinguished alumni, professionals, and representatives from industry organizations like Actors’ Equity.
The URTA Candidate Awards offer free attendance to the URTAs, including continuing education events, to candidates in the areas of Arts Leadership and Sound Design.
