Allen & Heath will once again present a number of live sound classes at the AES@NAMM Pro Sound Symposium to be held concurrently with the 2019 NAMM Show. Michael Bangs, Allen & Heath USA Live Sound Touring Manager and veteran FOH and monitor engineer (Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Katy Perry), will lead a number of special 60-minute masterclass presentations and half-day certification classes, sharing tips and tricks accumulated over his decades of experience working closely with engineers of all levels.
Using the Allen & Heath dLive Digital Mixing System, Bangs’ first session, a specialized ‘Festival Mixing Masterclass’, will offer hands-on training with an emphasis on the frequent and quick changeovers required in the high pressure festival environment.
Focused on the unique needs of the church audio operator, Bangs' second AES@NAMM Pro Sound Symposium session, ‘House of Worship Masterclass’, will demonstrate general concepts as well as dLive-specific tips and tricks for improving worship mix intelligibility and balance. Whether mixing for a congregation of 50 or 5000, a single acoustic guitar and vocal or a full praise band, this session will present the skills to deliver an optimal audio experience.
Bangs’ third session, ‘Monitoring Mixing Masterclass’, demonstrates how to approach the all-important skill of creating an effective live monitor mix. Whether dealing with in-ear monitors, wedges or a combination, Bangs will share guiding principles to help ensure success for the performers on stage and the best experience for fans in the audience.
In addition to these three ‘Masterclass’ sessions, Bangs will present half-day ‘dLive Certification Classes’ which offer AVIXA Renewal Units (RU). Rounding out the training series, the company will offer ‘dLive en Español’, presented entirely in Spanish. ‘dLive en Español’ covers Allen & Heath dLive console operation, signal routing concepts and system configuration tips for quickly setting up a basic mix.
Registration is required for all AES@NAMM sessions and seating is limited. Please refer to the AES website, http://bit.ly/aesnamm2019, for registration information and symposium details. ‘Masterclass’ and certification class offerings vary by day and a detailed schedule is available at http://bit.ly/aeslive2019.
