JVC KY-PZ510
JVC Professional Video is known for its innovative technology and products, and some of its newest offerings are designed specifically to help improve the worship experience.
The company’s latest offering, the KY-PZ510 Series PTZ Cameras, is comprised of four models with 4K60P HEVC Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) streaming, ideal for houses of worship. The cameras also feature enhanced SMART auto-tracking that follows one person and can select one of multiple people within its super-wide 80-degree field of view.
Craig Yanagi, national marketing manager for the Wayne, New Jersey-based company, spoke with Church.Design about the camera as well as some of the other equipment right for church today.
Church.Design: Tell us about the product you’re targeting for churches right now, and why is it a good fit?
Yanagi: The KY-PZ510 PTZ Remote Production Camera, the one that won one of Church Production’s Top Picks from InfoComm 2022. It is ideal for house of worship applications with its SMART auto-tracking technology, super-wide angle of view, and crisp 4K 60P image streaming capability. With NDI/HX LAN interoperability and SRT streaming technology standard, this camera is a unicorn amongst the vast offerings in the marketplace with all of its capabilities at an affordable price.
Church.Design: Is there another standout product churches should be aware of that can help them?
Yanagi: Our RM-LP100 Camera Remote Control is an ideal companion to our line of PTZ cameras, with its capability of storing 100 preset positions for 100 PTZ cameras. Not only does it have smooth and precise operation, but it also can paint and shade cameras, including JVC’s handheld streaming camcorders. This is an extremely empowering capability for operations great and small.
Church.Design: Ever since the pandemic, streaming has become such a big part of a church's offerings and presence. Beyond helping churches capture their live services, does JVC have products to help churches that pre-produce content for the online audience?
Yanagi: JVC offers our Connected Cam Live Streaming Production Suite which enables up to six camera inputs, dynamic graphic overlays and transitions, individual channel recording, and streaming to multiple Content Distribution Networks (CDNs) simultaneously to provide a professionally produced program on a single device. Churches can send a live-switched program and then go back at a later time and re-edit the program or create new ones with the individually recorded content.
Church.Design: How would you characterize where church production is heading as we approach 2023? What trends or movements do you see, and how will JVC respond to them?
Yanagi: At the recent Capture Summit [in July 2022 at Atlanta's 12Stone Church], we recognized that houses of worship have been increasing their knowledge of technology regarding presentation and streaming, and at the same time they were looking for ways to improve the quality of the viewer’s experience. The level of streaming infrastructure—local connectivity, output bandwidth, ultra-high definition with 60p frame rates—has come to the point where there is no barrier to providing the highest level of viewing experience to your audience, regardless of the device you’re using to watch the program.
Church.Design: What trends or movements do you see, and how will JVC respond to them?
Yanagi: In collaborating with our industry partners, JVC has been building capabilities into our products which enable them to take full advantage of [new] technologies. The standard incorporation of NDI/HX for ubiquitous LAN connections and SRT providing stable, synchronized, and secure distribution is an example of that.
Church.Design: Adding to the advancement of infrastructure performance is the complexity to achieve the best results from one’s equipment. How has JVC addressed this need?
Yanagi: JVC created the Peace of Mind Program, a dedicated line of communication with our U.S. Professional division engineering team, providing direct assistance to end user and integrator customers of new PTZ cameras. The program ensures that the prime objective of the PTZ camera is met, to properly operate on site or take the necessary actions to make this happen.
Church.Design: What’s the church project in the past year that has most wowed you? Where was the church, what JVC equipment did they choose, and what results are they seeing?
Yanagi: The most impressive integration we have witnessed in the past year is the one at Word of Restoration International Church (WORIC) in Houston, Texas. The reason is because this was a customer who added new equipment from PTZ cameras and monitors, as well as full studio camera systems for their newly created wedding chapel and reception hall, and still utilizes the camera systems purchased a few years ago. This speaks to the level of quality and value that JVC products provide, not only as a quality product for today but also for [churches'] future production endeavors. We are extremely pleased with and most proud of our repeat customer stories.
Church.Design: Is there anything else you want church designers and customers to know about JVC and what you offer?
Yanagi: JVC has a wide offering of products tailored specifically for houses of worship, from the handheld GY-HM250HW 4K camcorder with special graphics capability for churches and events to the latest multiple award-winning KY-PZ510 PTZ camera with its cutting-edge technology. Best of all, you can acquire each streaming camera individually, adding on cameras as you need them, and be able to connect and control them all seamlessly with our RM-LP100 camera controller. That is peace of mind which is hard to come by in a complex integration world.
