Ergonomics, performance and value. These three words may not immediately conjure up images of loudspeakers. But indeed, they’re key qualities setting customer expectations for the product line of CODA Audio, a next-generation loudspeaker manufacturer with U.S. offices in Richmond, Calif.
Church.Design caught up with CODA Audio USA’s sales director, Jeff Taylor, to learn more about what specifiers and end-users—especially those in the church world—will encounter when they do business with CODA. We learned that CODA systems have a reputation for targeting the sweet spot all the way around, with owners, users and experiencers.
Church.Design: How are your loudspeakers and live sound systems particularly effective for the modern worship setting, and how does the company ethos line up with that in terms of support?
Taylor: CODA’s patented driver, amplifier, and DSP technology offer audio performance previously unavailable for large-scale sound-reinforcement. Dedicated to audio quality first, CODA’s world-wide team of audio professionals are as capable as accomplished. No matter the challenge, only a ‘start from the beginning’ approach will yield a best-practices-disrupting innovation.

Church.Design: How do you train the clients of those who specify gear for churches? In other words, what do these designers need to know about the level of attention and care you will give to their church clients?
Taylor: Specifically, the CODA USA team employs a customer-centric, organizational footing. Every stage of the product lifecycle is supported with strategic customer input and factory action. Today’s business environment requires holistic care of the lifecycle, not limited only to ‘design-support,’ ‘staff training,’ and ‘on-site commissioning.'
Church.Design: What new products are you offering in Q4 2018 or early 2019 that are right for the church market?
Taylor: The CODA ‘Arrayable Point Source System’ or APS System, is a most exciting development desperately needed in the house-of-worship environment. The system features dual 10-inch LF components in the passive 3-way design, and is arrayable vertically or horizontally in 20-degree slices, up to 360 degrees. A single CODA Linus amplifier can support arrays of up to 12x elements.
The ViRAY System is a most economical solution for large spaces desiring acoustic accuracy on a scale previously unaffordable. The system features dual 8-inch LF components in a passive 3-way design, and integrates with the entire family of arRAY products from CODA for scalability. A single CODA Linus amplifier can support arrays of up to 16x elements.

The ‘Hi-Output Point-Source,’ or HOPS, range is a most impressive line of nano-sized, full-range loudspeakers. The systems utilize dual LF components with a coaxial driver featuring CODA’s planar HF technology. Versatility is supported with cabinet asymmetry for floor-monitoring, vertical and horizontal brackets, as well as a yoke-adaptor system. Anywhere life-like audio is required, but space is limited, the HOPS range will be a valuable tool.
Church.Design: Most churches rely heavily on volunteer staff. What can these end-users expect in terms of training for staff and volunteers?
Taylor: Contact us at CODA. Our newly assembled team of U.S. veterans is excited to lead [church and design] teams, and thereby the industry, to new levels of achievement.
We’ll start by listening. At CODA our tagline is ‘Hearing is Believing.’
